There was an error while preparing to share

Why I am Unable to Share Photos iCloud?

The reason why you are not able to share photos or videos on icloud and getting the ‘there was an error while preparing to share‘ notification is because you’ve turned on Low Power Mode, low storage, poor data connectivity or other software glitches.  There can be other reasons as well for which below are the lists of possible fixes for the issue that may help to fix the issue:

How to fix apple iphone issue unable to share photos on iCloud, iPhone 6s/7/XR/:

Fix 1 :  Go to iCloud-> and make sure Photo Library enabled and Optimize iPhone Storage is checked. Log out of iCloud then log in back. At first, you may feel that all your cloud pictures/albums were removed from the phone. But it may take a few minutes for everything to download again. I have over 2k photos and 15+ albums so it took a bit for it all to come back. After it try to do the share again, it is possible that you still see same error similar to original issue but a few minutes later it may work for you.

Fix 2 : Best solution for this problem is by the following these steps
1-"General settings"
2-"Accessibility"
3- "reduced mention"
4- turn it off or on which ever you didn't have.
5- Try again in few minutes.

Fix 3: An easier solution. Just go to Settings > Click on your name > iCloud > Photos > turn off iCloud Photo Library and turn it on again. When you turn it off, choose "Remove from iPhone".

Fix 4:  A bit of a pain as you need to shut off Find My Phone, remove and reload iphotos.

I hope above solution have helped you to fix There was an error while preparing to share issue on icloud.

Hello. Fix 3 was what really worked for me. I turned off Icloud photo library and removed it. Then added it again and magically I could share the pictures!

I tried all of these but they did not work for me. It appears that I'm signing in, but when I go to the Settings screen it asks me to sign in. I've signed in 20 times but it just continues to ask me to do it again. So frustrated!

Thanks you sir.. it was a great help. Fixed my problem.

After I turned off the library and removing [which scared me since there were over 4000 pics] i turned it back on. It took a while for the library to upload all the pics back to the phone again. Sharing seems to be working fine again and I think all of the pics are still there.

Fix 3 is a little nerve-wracking while doing it but it solved my problem--thank you!

As an added possibility to fix this issue, make sure you are not currently in "Low Power Mode".
Go into your battery settings to ensure "Low Power Mode" is off.

I had the same issue and this was my fix.

Cheers

Please before trying fox 3. Check the low battery mode. If your phone is plugged in and charging it may still be on low battery mode. As soon as i switched it off problem solved.

Good grief, I also did fix 3 and most of my pictures have disappeared! I’m heartbroken! Low battery mode was off and continues to be off. Are these pictures gone forever (sob) or can they be retrieved? Would greatly appreciate your assistance. I feel like an idiot for blindly following #3 without doing further research.

I did Fix 3 and was horrified with the rest of you that my photos (at least most of them) appeared to have left the building (along with Elvis) BUT, magically, after 48 nerve racking hours, they did reload to (or from) the Cloud. At some point, I had a choice to pause the upload, or continue it, when going in thru the photo icon (rather than your camera icon), and for the duration, I could not get any "news" from my daily news update icon. Finally did a hard reset to clear its sinuses. Voila! But it is a hearstopper for a couple of days. I suspect you have all found your pix by now.
I'm having the same issue; neither #1 or #2 worked and am terrified at the thought of losing my photos for #3.

Panicked for a bit as only a few pictures had returned. I then switched my phone off.
Walked away for a bit , turned the phone back on, all my images have retired and can be shared/send fabulous, thanks.

Fix # 1
It actually deleted all of my pics, it’s been 5 days and I only have 6 of the 100+ pictures.

My low battery mode already is off. Not helping

I lost all my sons pictures because of fix 3. Don’t do it. He’s less than two months old and all of those precious memories from his smile to him sneezing while taking a photo they’re gone and I can’t get them back to put in his album. He is my first child so this is truly upsetting.

Hi Lindi and all others, As the fix 3 says you have only turned off the sync from iCloud and that does not mean you have deleted any of your photos. After turning on the sync please wait for sometime and give idle condition to your iPhone to re-sync to iCloud again like connected to wifi, locked, charging and no low power mode etc. Your photo should sync back. if you can't wait, pls go and check in iCloud library they must be there.

number three worked like a charm. when you turn it off then turn back on...it worked. kinda scary but all pics came back and shared super fast. Thank you!
Unknown said…
I tried all of that, none of it worked. Then I did a simple restart on my iPhone 6, Bingo! Hold down home and power button simultaneously until apple logo appears. Worked like a charm.

Also just switched phone off with power button, and on again and it worked

Fix #1 solved the initial problem, but now the iPhone will not retrieve *any* of the photos back from iCloud. The Photos app says "Updating paused for 5,649 Items, not enough iPhone storage" There appears to be no way to use the Photos app as a portal to the iCloud photos.

I suppose I will have to transfer everything over to Google Drive, which had a nice Photo app.

Fix 3 worked but now I only have 85 pics out of 1200. Help please
