Many
iPhone users after upgrading their iPhone iOS to latest iOS 11.4.1 or iOS 12 b
are facing issue with poor speed of wifi internet. iPhone will connect fine to
the WIFI but after connecting wifi gives poor speed, specially some apps not
loading fast eg apps like YouTube, Facebook and whatsapp takes long time to
connect to the internet and connects after few minutes.
Surprisingly
the on the same wifi network other iPhone/iPad connects well with older iOS
9/10. This seems like software bug in the iOS 11/12 which has created wifi
connection issue with iPhone.The issue becomes terrible with emails as sometimes
it may take around 30 seconds to load a normal mail.

How to fix iPhone X/8/7/6s WIFI issue with
iOS 12 and iOS 11.4.1
Fix 1:
Reset network settings
Try to
reset your network settings. It will resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords,
cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before, but
nothing else).Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
Fix 2:
Turn off wifi assist
This is
bit weird to try but for many user turning off cellular assist (Setting->MobleData->
scroll all the way down->Wi-fi assist to OFF).
Fix 3:
Change the router frequency
Quite
possible that iOS have issue with the frequency that your router us using, If
your router/modem has a setting for the 2.4 Ghz channel, change the channel
bandwidth to 20 Mhz. Then, if you have a 5Ghz channel, change the channel
bandwidth to 80Mhz, or if there is a setting that allows 20, 40, and 80 Mhz,
use that setting. These steps seem to work slow wifi issue on iPhone for many
users.

On the iPhone X I was getting a max of 1.83Mbps!
After various attempts to solve the issue, using solutions being proffered on the web, I spotted that my SpeedTest app was cycling past VPN during it's set up process, and wondered why.
Went to Settings/VPN and saw it was connected, but I couldn’t switch it off there.
Then went to Settings/General/VPN and saw I’d installed Betternet VPN at some point in the past and it was active.
Clicked on the i and switched off “Connect On Demand”.
Checked WiFi speed and bingo, I was back to 60Mbps!
Very relieved, to say the least, that I hadn’t panicked and deleted all my network settings or done a complete restore....
