How to set up Screen time as Parent on Child iPhone: iOS 12


Screen Time is really a great feature of iOS 12 and helpful being a parent if you are want to control your child mobile usage. If you have set the screen time as Parent, in this case ignoring the limit in your child iPhone will require the parent’s pass code for all managed devices, but it won’t be needed if you set up limits on your own (parent) device.

To set up Screen Time as Parent in your child iPhone :

Set Content & Privacy Restrictions as follow:
  1. In Your child iPhone->Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.
  2. Tap Continue, "This is My Child's iPhone”.  Please note, as a parent iPhone you should chose "This is My iPhone".

  1. Follow the instruction of the child iPhone to set App Limits, Content & Privacy, and creating your Parent Passcode.
    • If you're the parent or guardian of your device and want to prevent another family member from changing your settings, tap Use Screen Time Passcode to create a passcode. Then re-enter the passcode to confirm.

    • If you're setting up Screen Time on your child's device, follow the prompts until you get to Parent Passcode and enter a Passcode. Re-enter the Passcode to confirm.
  2. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. If asked, enter your Passcode, then turn on Content & Privacy.


5.     On the parent iPhone, You can easily see all Screen Time data for all devices connected to an iCloud account. Tap Settings → Screen Time → All Devices → Devices, found in the top right corner.


Make sure to choose a Passcode that's different from the Passcode you use to unlock your device.

What to do you forgot Screen Time:

If you forget your Screen Time passcode, you need to erase your device, then set it up asa new device to remove the Screen Time passcode. Restoring your device from a backup won't remove your Screen Time passcode.
