Many
iPhone XR and iPhone XS Max user on iOS 12 are facing issue with low ringer
volume in iPhone XR and XS Max. When the volume is up all the way up in iPhone
XR, but the phone is ringing at half volume when someone makes an incoming
call. This is not the case always as the iPhone some time rings as expected
level but may ring low at random time. While the phone is ringing and when you lift

Once your phone starts to ring, the ringer volume will be normal. Once you look
at your phone, Face ID recognises you and reduces the volume as it knows you
are nearby to phone and aware it is ringing to avoid unnecessary noise.

of phone is facing your face than ring volume will automatically get lower and
if your phone is faced down on table or not sensing your face than it will ring
at the volume set in your settings. But if you don’t want to see this behaviour

To fix
iPhone XR low ringer volume issue: Go to Settings, scroll to Face
ID & Passcode, then scroll to where it says Attention Aware Features. This
is automatically on. Switch it to off. Try getting a call after changing this
setting.

to Settings > General > Accessibility > Face ID & Attention and
turn off Attention Aware Features
