Step 1. Connect
USB cable to your Windows computer or Mac, but do not connect it to your iPad.
Step 2. Turn
off your iPad by pressing and hold the Home and Power button (don't hold them,
you can release after the screen goes black)
Step 3. When
the iPhone is off, hold down the Home button and connect iPhone to the other
end of the USB cable, which should still be attached to your computer. This
will force iPhone to turn on.
Step 4.
Continue to hold the Home button until an alert message in iTunes appears
saying that your iPhone is detected in recovery mode.
Step 5. Select
"Restore" - it will download a large (2.5GB) file and reset your
iPad. You'll still need your apple account username and password, but you can
reset that on apple.com so that you know it's correct when you enter it.
In
case you don't have a backup, choosing "update" may work.
