Reachability not working on iPhone 8 plus and iOS 12



Many iPhone users are reporting that in iPhone the Reachability is not working after iOS 12update. The Reachability randomly stopped working in iPhone 8plus after iOS update. Generally a restart will fix it will reachability feature will stop working after sometimes randomly. The reachability is also commonly known as double tap.




The reachability is great feature in iPhone that helps users to access the iPhone singly handedly by just double tapping on the home button. But after the iOS 11/12 update the feature has stopped working. To turn on the reachability feature Go to Settings > General > Accessibility and scroll down to Reachability. Make sure it is enabled.

Fix 1: Tap  properly



If you have added a screen tempered glass on the iPhone screen, make sure finger makes full contact with the entire button on the double tab. If you use only used the tip of my thumb it would not work for this feature.  Maybe it's because the .3mm of raised glass prevents sensor reading correctly.

Fix 2 : Screen replacement

Some of the iPhone X report that after screen replacement the reachability feature has stopped working. In such cases you should take the iPhone to Apple store and get the replacement checked; done properly or not.

Fix 3: Get checked you home button



There are chances that tap on the home button is not happening properly making reachability feature randomly accessible or sometimes just not working. Like one who was facing the issue “Reachability not working” user reported
I resolved my problem, the physical button has a small nick on it and it rotates. I simply rotated it a little and it started working all of a sudden. Hope it holds up a little longer.”

Fix 4 : Force / hard restart the iPhone

If Reachability is not working in iPhone If it is a software glitch then we can fix it by simple force restart.:

For iPhone 6s and earlier

Step #1: Press and hold the Home button and Power button together until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

For iPhone 7 and 7Plus

Step #1: Press and hold Side button and Volume down button and release when you see Apple logo on the screen.

For iPhone 8 or later

Step #1: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.

Step #2: Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.

Step #3: Next, Press and Hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
