iPhone X Invalid phone number while changing credit card details

iPhone X users are facing issue in changing payment method in iPhone that while updating credit card info it says Invalid Phone Number. Even when the phone number is  registered with Apple account and still while chaning the credit card details in payment method iphone says that phone number is invalid.

iphone invalid phone number error

One iPhone users reported this as
“I’m trying to change my expired credit card details but the system keeps saying invalid phone number. tried to put number with and without country code same error message”

It seems like the iPhone doesn't accept new phone number as a trusted number. The users are getting error message “Invalid Phone Number  This phone number is invalid. Enter a new phone number and try again.” This looks like software glitch in the latest iOS 12 version where iPhone user can’t add or update phone number or credit card info. The issue is seen almost of types of iPhone models including iPhone XS Max, XR and 8 /7 Plus running on iOS 12.

How to fix Invalid phone number error while changing credit card details on iPhone XS Max/XR/8 Plus/ 7 Plus and iPhone 6s :

There are no updates from the apple on the issue however there are some workaround you can do to add or update the phone number:

Fix  1: Update on Appstore from computer

One way to fix this issue is to add phone number from computer. Adding the payment method on Appstore through computer, The payment method, address etc were updated on the iPhone simultaneously. Hope this helps please let us know in comment section.

Fix 2: Add – to phone number

I added a new method of payment instead of editing the existing one. When I scrolled down, my number was already entered in this format:
xxx-xxxxxx

No sure why but  '-' makes the number valid

Fix 3: Update to latest iOS version

This could be a software bug in iOS 12.4 and Apple is generally release permanent fix for such issues in upcoming releases of iOS. iPhone should always be update to latest version for a permanent fix for such issues. iOS 13 is expected to release near Fall and hope this will have a permanent fix for the issue.
