How to fix iPhone cannot get email "No Password Provided" ?


iPhone users are reporting issue that suddenly they are not able to get the email in the iPhone. The iPhone will not load new email and keeps on showing error message that  “No Password provided”. Even after re-entering the password in accounts mail server, still the mails does not work in the iPhone. The error message is like “Cannot get mail, no password provided for Gmail”

This is very annoying issue as the iPhone keeps on telling that No password is provided for the mail server, but actually the password is provided it just iPhone is not able to get emails. 


This is happening across multiple email address and different mail servers like gmail, outlook,AOL, AT&T keeps on saying “Can not get mail, No Password provided”. The issue is not limited to mail server only but also when changed iCloud password. Despite deleting mail app and reinstalling it, as well as signing out of iCloud on iPhone, the iPhone keep showing the error message that "No password provided for 'iCloud'.

Fix 1 : Delete and re add the account


 Simply DELETING THE ACCOUNT and Recreating it seems to fix the issue for most of the users. solution is to completely delete the specific account from your settings then to set it up through mail again. Then the iPhone downloaded all emails.

Fix 3 : Using the AT&T Secure Mail Key


For all of those with ATT accounts facing iPhone mail server issue, you have to get a 'secure mail key from AT&T and use it during the email account setup process where it asked for password. Overall, it was a very long and but this will work most of the time. Please follow below steps:


1. Get the secure mail key by logging into ATT account and going to profile and requesting the key.

2. Deleted existing yahoo/at&t email account from iPhone 

3. Adding the new 'other' email account using the steps is the article, https://www.serversettings.email/att.net-email-server-settings-imap.php#iphone

*** use email key where it asks for password

When you say "requesting a key", I don't see anywhere on my AT&T profile page where I can "request a key." Do you mean that I should open a chat session and ask someone about getting a key?
