“Unable to Join the Network” : iPhone 12 iOS 15

Similar is the case with WIFI connection in iOS 15, many iPhone user are seeing warning “Unable to Join Network”  while trying to connect to a WIFI . The new WIFI warning in iOS 15 says “Unable to Join the Network This network is operating on Wi-Fi Channels in use by several other nearby networks. Restarting the router may allow it to automatically chose the best channel to use, and may resolve this problem.”. The Wi-FI warning given in the iOS 15 does not make sense to many users and the iPhone users are confuse about what needs to be done to resolve  “Unable to Join the Network” Warning after iOS 15 update.

Why I am getting Wi-FI warning on iOS 15 “Unable to Join the Network”: iPhone 13, iPhone 12 Pro Max/Mini, iPhone 11/XR/XS MAX,8

The warning given by iPhone while connecting to Wifi networking is actually useful specially if you live in a place with multiple house nearby with WIFI connections.

Many people and ISP leave the WiFi channel settings to automatic, which may become an issue for them as each WIFI router uses channels to connect and transmit data. Automatic Channel setting will let it chose WIFI channel on its own and if there are many WIFI connection they may be using same channel.

Having a pop-up that notifies you of a possible problem with the channels is really useful. Most of the times when you think your WiFi is slow, it’s actually a channel problem caused by interference.

How to check nearby Wifi connection, Channels

Apple do not show the any information about the channel number and you will not be able to know directly which channel your router is using. However there is an app that you can download from the Appstore-> download Apple’s AirPort Utility app that will scan all the WIFI networks around you and also show you details about the network.

Once the app is installed in your iPhone-> Go the app configuration on your iPhone settings; there you’ll have to enable the option called “WiFi Scan”. After enabling this setting, a button will appear on the app and you’ll be able to get extra information about nearby networks including the channels, frequency, noise and extra stuff.

How to fix “Unable to Join the Network” issue in iOS 15:

As the issue of “Unable to Join the Network” is due to overlapping channel in the WIFI networks around you, and as already mentioned that the Router settings are set to automatic to choose channel. To solve the “Unable to Join the Network” issue due to channel use by other nearby network, as mentioned in the message , you should restart your WIFI router to get a new channel which may be different then the existing one. Please note that the WIFI Channel are assigned automatically and you may have to restart the router more than one time to fix this warning.
