How to fix Auto-Lock “never” option missing on iPhone, iPad ?

Auto lock option "Never" missing from iPhone: Apple is known for its security feature in iPhone and iPads. The security from Apple is getting better and better in new iOS released and new iPhone launches. The iPhone 14, which is an equipped with all new hardware upgrades and software features is one of the best selling iPhone.

 But some of the basic features in the iPhone are now confusing its users. Like some users are reporting issue in the iPhone that the Auto lock features of iPhone do not have never  to unlock iPhone option. The Never option is missing on Auto-Lock in  the iPhone Settings > Display & Brightness.

It seem like Auto lock “never” option is missing in new iPhone/iOS updates. Some users do not want the iPhones to lock and for them it is annoying to see that iPhone setting do not have option to keep iPhone unlocked forever. 

 

 

Why my iPhone do not have Never option in Auto Lock ?

 

 

If you are not seeing any option to not lock your iPhone, then this could be due to you are using Work exchange email like office 365.

It’s a security feature from Apple, enabled for work or school profiles, so your phone cannot be made available to anyone. For more please read MDM profile. 

 If you have this setup, then you iPhone is a managed device and you will not see any option to never lock your iPhone automatically. To see of your iPhone is using work email, You can check in Settings  > General > Profiles & Device Management.

 

How to get missing Auto Lock 'never' option iPhone, iPad ?

 

 

Fix 1:  Remove managed device

 

In conclusion, if an iPhone or iPad a "managed device" under General->Device Management (like Office 365 , company email configs) that will disable the ‘Never’ option under Display&Brightness->Auto-Lock.  If you want never option the you should simply remove the managed device from Settings  > General > Profiles & Device Management.

 

Fix 2: Use FaceId

 

If you can not delete the work account from Device management then other solution is to use FaceId to unlock the work email like outlook etc. this will allow you to use Never in Auto lock. For this try these settings :

Open outlook app -> click your icon on the top left -> click the cog at the bottom left -> scroll down to preferences -> Turn ON require face ID.
