How to create a Face ID Lock on Any app on the iPhone, iPad ?

iPhone making company Apple is quite innovative with new feature that it has introduced in the latest iOS 16 and iOS 17. With the latest hardware upgrades the new iPhones are great in terms of battery, features, great hardware performance. What sets apart apple is the security feature provided in iPhone and iPads. The most common Face ID feature of iPhone is brilliant in terms of accuracy and performance. Face ID not only locks the iPhone but also allows many features that in build or third-party apps can use to secure their application features.

Many apps specially dealing with finance or customer data do have option to use face ID or PIN. Like for example outlook gives option to unlock the app with Face ID. While many of the apps do I have option to use face ID to unlock it and use it, but many other apps do not have this feature in built. So the question arises how to use face ID for any app installed in the iPhone or iPad. 

 

App specific lock using FaceID is a great feature to control what other people can not  see in your phone when your phone is unlocked or you have given them to use it for time being. 

If the iPhone app to not have inbuilt feature use face ID to access it then there is a workaround that puts face ID pass code for any of the app install in your iPhone. 

 

How to lock any app on iPhone using FaceId :

 

Locking iPhone any party apps is achievable using iPhone shortcut app. Please follow below mentioned steps to do so :

 

1.  On your iPhone open automation app. Tap on create automation.

2.  You will see a new automation screen. Scroll down to find app section.

3.  On the app icon type and select the app that you want to unlock using Face ID

4.  Select the app in this example we will take Amazon app

5.  In the next page tap on add action.

6.  In the search box type lock, you will see Lock Screen under scripting.

7.  This will lock the phone when the Amazon app is open, open the app Face ID will be required.

 

 

This seems to be a better way to open app with FaceId then ScreenTime feature of iPhone. Screen time requires you at least one minute of time usage of the app. However automation do not require such things.
