How to Fix Call Drop in iPhone 11 ?

Apple will soon introduces new iPhone and iOS 17. It's great to see Apple coming up with new features and trying to make a stable version of iOS. But some bugs keeps on creative table to iPhone users that Apple must take care of. One search bug is reported with iPhone 11 with the latest iOS 16 and iOS 17 beta. The issue is related to "call drop iPhone 11".

Call drop issue is specific to iPhone 11, the other iPhone like iPhone SE or iPhone 13, 14 Pro are not reported with call drop issue. Call drop issue is persists only in iPhone 11.

Since then the issue is persistent in iPhone 11 but in the new iOS 16.4.1release the issue was fixed by apple, however the issue cam back after installing the iOS 16.5 update on the iPhone.  After the recent update iOS 16.5, most probably a week ago it has become more frequent and irritating.  How to fix iPhone 11 call drop : iOS 16 ?

 

To fix iPhone 11 call drop issue, there are some temporary work around to change the settings. A permanent fix for the issue will be released by Apple in upcoming releases.

If you want to avoid iPhone 11 call drop then there is a workaround to receive the call on iPhone loudspeaker or over a Bluetooth device. This seems to be effective way to avoid call drop in iPhone.

Other working work around to fix iPhone 11 call drop is to change Siri settings. Many user who changed the Siri call hangup settings are not facing sudden call call drop issue in iPhone 11.

On the iPhone go to Settings> Accessibility > SIRI > Call Hang-Up: Turn it OFF.  After changing the setting the call drop issue in iPhone 11 should be fixed.

Another setting change that can fix iPhone 11 call drop is to change auto select speaker feature on iPhone. 

 Again this seems to be effective work around to stop iPhone 11 call drop. 

On your iPhone go to Settings->Accessibility->VoiceOver->Audio Auto-select Speaker in Call (Disable this option)

 

Troubleshooting steps to fix iPhone 11 call drop:

 

1.  Update Carrier Updates: the calling in iPhone is actually based upon your network carrier provider. Carrier setting is also important for making calls in iPhone. Make sure you have latest carrier settings in the iPhone 11. Go to Settings > General > About. If there is a carrier update available, you will receive a prompt to update. Always ensure to use latest career setting in iPhone

2.  Turn off Wi-Fi Calling: the Wi-Fi calling feature of iPhone is very old cause for random call rocks in iPhone including iPhone X. This can also be possible for your iPhone 11 and to fix that Go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling and toggle it off. 

3.  Reset Network Settings: any software glitch in Network setting can always cause call drop issue.  To fix that resetting the network settings on your iPhone can help resolve network issues. To reset network setting on iPhone-> Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will not remove any data from your iPhone but please note that it will remove all Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth connections, and VPN settings. 

4.  Resetting all settings : similar to network resetting, you can also try to reset all settings of iPhone. This will reset or fix any software glitch in the iPhone settings. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset all settings. 

5.  Upgrade iPhone 11 iOS Version: Since it is very much clear that the issue is linked to iOS 16 releases. Therefore a permanent fix is expected from Apple in nearby future release of iOS. Meanwhile you can report the issue to Apple support for prioritising it.
