“This song is not currently available in your country or region “ : Apple music

Many iPhone XR, XS Max user on iOS 12.2 are facing issue while listening Applie Music songs on their iPhone, iPad and other Apple device.   When the user turned on iPhone to listen to music, and found that about 40% of the songs in iTunes library are grayed out. When you try to play songs in iPhone it gives error message "This song is not currently available in your country or region". It is not necessary that all songs are from iTunes purchased but even for CD burned or copied song which are owned songs by the users are unable to play on iPhone and gives the error : “This song is not currently available in your country or region”.

There is no particular pattern on which this is happening to particular songs, the songs not playing iPhone/iTunes and are grayed out, some of them are from iTunes purchases. Even iTunes purchases songs are giving error “This song is not currently available in your country or region.” The iPhone error occurs at any time even if you are not traveling, not changing countries and haven't made any changes to iTunes.

The grayed out songs are songs whose details are modified recently. You might have not modified each songs separately but the playlist which have these songs added. There is surely something buggy in iTunes or iOS 12.2 which is causing songs to grayed out and give error message “This song is not currently available in your country or region.”

Why iPhone is giving error on Apple Music- This song is not currently available in your country or region.

Songs in iPhone getting grayed out can be due to tracks on an older playlist may have been edited (possibly only the meta data or lyrics text) to a new version on Apple Music, thereby invalidating the old version. You can delete the old track from the list and add the new version from Search to update your playlist.

Tracks that were once available on Apple music may have been retracted by the artist or their record company, temporarily or permanently, for all regions or for selected regions. The availability of tracks can change over time. And when this happens you likely to get these issues.

How to fix iPhone Apple music songs grayed out with error message “This song is not currently available in your country or region.” on iPhone XR/XS Max/ 8/7/6s Plus on iOS 12.2

Fix 1 : Reset iTunes Warning on Computer connection

If you are facing song becoming grayed out from iPhone, to fix that you should connect to computer (With iTunes ) and when you connect your phone to your computer make sure to hit the reset warnings (when you are about to sync you music) and you should be good and all songs should come to normal state.  IF you do not get any such warning you can do this manually from:
Go to -> ITunes Preferences -> Advanced tab ->  reset warnings.

Fix 2: Resync the songs on iTunes

The iPhone songs grayed out issue occurred I synced iphone to iTunes backup, so it is possible that the computer backup is “faulty”. To fix that

-          Delete all my music off the phone.
-          Added everything back in iTunes.
-          Sync the iPhone to iTunes songs
-          Now all songs should play well. This should fix the problem.
-          If still not works, delete all songs from iTunes as well and resync again
-          Please note if you try to sync by wifi it may not work. It is recommended to use physical cable.

Thank you!! iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Warnings > Worked!

For good measure, i also Reset Cache and Reset Identifier (which you should do every so often anyway)

It was puzzling - This "not available" error message happened even for AIFF and MP3 files of my digitized 1970s vinyl records.

This is an Apple error, not ours. The burden should not be on us to devise painful work-arounds to fix them.

Thank you. This worked for me. I reset the warnings, rebooted my computer and rebooted my iPod. When I connected to iTunes again, (with a cable) it re-sync'd by itself and the songs that were grayed out were now available.

Hi anyway I can do the same without a laptop? I don’t want to sync my phone though iTunes anymore. I backed up my new XS via the iCloud and now so many of my songs are grey and I can’t even like delete them. Makes my playlist look ugly. Pls any help would be appreciated.

I tried all the on-line 'fixes' but none of them worked completely. Some of them worked a little bit. Then I stumbled on a full fix. It is a bit convoluted, and wearying, but, if you value your music as much as I do, it will be worth the patience, and effort.
Here is how i did it.
1. Connect iPhone8 to iTunes on laptop.
2. Click on "MUSIC", on the "ON MY DEVICE" list on the laptop.
3. On the iPhone8, click on "MUSIC", then, "LIBRARY", then, "SONGS". (so now you are looking a two listings of all your music, one on the iPhone8, (I don't know if it works on other iPhones, you could try it), and one on the laptop).
4. As you scroll down your music list on the laptop, you will see a circle of dots on the left of the first song that will not play on the iPhone8.
5. on the iPhone8, find the same song, (as you have just identified on the laptop), and tap it, as if to play it. It will grey out in a second or two. If youn tap it again, it will give the horrible message, "this song is not currently available in your country or region", but you don't need to tap it a second time.
6. Find the next song, (with the ring of dots), on the laptop, then find it on the iPhone8 and tap it once. (if you acccidently tap it a second time, just confirm you read the message and the message will go away leaving the song greyed out. You now have two songs greyed out. Repeat the sequence until you have 10 or 20, (ar all of) the greyed out songs. (I did it in 10 or 20 groups).
7. On the laptop, click on the word "SYNC", and wait a few moments. You will see some activity on the laptop page. When it is finished, all the greyed out songs are now available on the iPhone.
8. Repeat the procedure until all the sons in your collection are available on the iPhone8, ot until you run out of patience, in which case you just leave it for an hour, a day, aweek, and start over, until it's all done.
